AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire, a managed care organization serving New Hampshire Medicaid enrollees and part of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, is teaming up with Lamprey Health Care in its initiative to take health services on the road. AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire recently contributed $25,000 to Lamprey in support of its Mobile Health Service Van and has pledged an additional $25,000 each year for the next four years to continue its support.
“When we talk about health care in terms of accessibility, barriers to transportation and health care deserts play a big role in whether someone can get to a brick-and-mortar doctor’s office,” said AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire Market President Bill Keena. “Lamprey works to erase those barriers by bringing health care services directly to the people, meeting them where they are.”
Lamprey Health Care’s Mobile Health Service Van partners with local organizations and locations to bring health-related services out into the community. Currently, Lamprey’s Mobile Health Service Van has a weekly presence in Nashua, Deerfield and Milford, where members of the community can “drop-in” without an appointment, even if they are not already established with Lamprey and can get set up as a patient right on site. Providers on the Van can diagnose non-emergency/life threatening injuries and illnesses and prescribe medication on-site for an individual. The Van also includes a certified diabetes educator. In addition, Lamprey’s Mobile Health Service Van acts as a gateway for those in the community to get connected with additional services at Lamprey’s centers, which include a 24-hours nurse triage line, behavioral health, prenatal care, psychiatry, and substance use treatment.
As part of AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire’s mission to build healthy communities, the plan is dedicated to supporting local and statewide efforts to break down barriers to health care and address the social determinants of health that impact those living in the Granite state.
