All of our female members can get care from any of our women's health providers. You can set up visits to these doctors without calling your primary care provider (PCP) first. These visits include:
Routine gynecological (GYN, or female) care, like:
- Physical.
- Breast exams.
- Pelvic exams.
- Pap smears and education.
- Preventive health services.
- GYN problems for diagnosis, evaluation, treatment and follow-up care
- Maternity care, including all visits.
- Breast cancer screening.
All women should do a breast self-exam every month. AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire covers mammograms and clinical breast exams for women aged 40 years and older every one to two years. More frequent mammograms and breast exams may be provided when ordered by your PCP.
A mammogram is an X-ray of your breasts. This test and monthly self-exams can find breast cancer early. The X-ray can show a lump before you or your doctor can feel it. Cancer that is found early is easier to treat. This can save your life.
Prior authorization from the plan is not required for screenings provided by a network provider, but may be required for screenings that are ordered at a higher than recommended frequency.
Bright Start®
If you are pregnant, AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire offers our Bright Start program to help you take care of your health while you anticipate your new arrival. The Bright Start program gives you information about the importance of eating right; taking your prenatal vitamins; receiving care in a timely manner; staying away from drugs, alcohol, and smoking; and visiting your dentist so you can keep your gums healthy. AmeriHealth Caritas New Hampshire will work with your health care providers to make sure you get the care you need.
